Lakshmana Sena
King of Sena dynasty from 1178 to 1206
Lokkhon Sen or Lakshmana Sena was the ruler from the Sena dynasty of the Bengal region on the Indian subcontinent. His rule lasted for 28 years, in which his empire reached at its peak possessing the territories of Gauda, Kamrupa, Kalinga, Magadha and Kashi.
Lakshmibai Rajwade
Indian medical doctor, family planning advocate, and suffragist
Rani Lakshmibai Rajwade was an Indian medical doctor, feminist, and family planning advocate. She was also a suffragist and advocate for the right of women to vote in India, and presided over the All India Women's Conference as well as acting as its secretary. She was the author of an influential report on the role of women in the Indian economy in 1938, as well as a driving force in the adoption of family planning measures as part of the agenda of the Indian independence movement. Rajwade also represented India internationally, at the United Nations and helped establish links between Indian women's organizations and international women's organizations.
Lakshmi Sahgal
Indian doctor, politician and officer of the Indian National Army (1914 - 2012)
Lakshmi Sahgal was an Indian politician and activist. She was a revolutionary of the Indian independence movement, an officer of the Indian National Army, and the Minister of Women's Affairs in the Azad Hind government. Lakshmi is commonly referred to in India as Captain Lakshmi, a reference to her rank when taken prisoner in Burma during the Second World War.
Lala Lajpat Rai

Lala Lajpat Rai was an Indian revolutionary, politician, and author, popularly known as Punjab Kesari. He was one of the three members of the Lal Bal Pal trio. He died of severe trauma injuries sustained in October 1928 during a baton charge by police in Lahore, when he led a peaceful protest march against the all-British Simon Commission.

Laxmi Indira Panda

Captain Laxmi Indira Panda was an Indian revolutionary and one of the youngest members of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army. Panda was the only Odia woman to serve in the INA.
Laxminarayan Mishra

Pandit Laxminarayan Mishra was an Indian Nationalist, educationist, politician and writer from Odisha, India. He was one of the most active nationalists of Western Odisha. Being a staunch nationalist and a follower of the Indian Independence movement, he left school and joined the movement. He spent his years preaching ideas of revolution and in time was spent 17 years in prison. In prison he spent a considerable amount time learning many languages such as Gujarati, Persian, and Urdu, as well as religious readings. This earned him the title of Pandit from many other freedom fighters. His descendants live in Sambalpur.

Leslie Goonewardene
Sri Lankan politician
Leslie Simon Goonewardene was a prominent Sri Lankan statesman. He founded Sri Lanka's first political party, the Lanka Sama Samaja Party, in 1935, and served as its General-Secretary from 1935 to 1977. Goonewardene was a key figure in both the Indian independence movement and the Sri Lankan independence movement. He was designated as a National Hero of Sri Lanka for his leadership in the independence movement, and his efforts are celebrated each year on the Sri Lankan Independence Day.
L. Krishnaswami Bharathi

L. Krishnaswami Bharathi was an Indian freedom fighter, politician and parliamentarian from Tamil Nadu who served as a member of the Constituent Assembly of India from 1946 to 1950, representing the erstwhile Madras State. He became a member of the Provisional Parliament from 1950 to 1952, again representing the same region. He was a Congress leader and advocate of Gandhian values who contributed to the official language issue in the Constituent Assembly.
